CCT attended International Women’s Day in Simiyu Region March 08, 2018,
The international Women’s Day in Tanzania was launched by retired Speaker of the Parliament of Tanzania Anne Makinda in Dodoma Region with a slogan A NATION-BASED POPULATION FOR TANZANIA DEVELOPMENT TODAY AND AFTER Dodoma. CCT was a member of preparing the events.
CCT also participated in the celebration of the International Women’s Day from 3rd to March 08th 2018. Nationally it was celebrated in Simiyu Region. The day was commemorated by women from various sectors who gathered together and portrayed different messages and activities for one week.
The theme for this year is Towards an Industrial Economy: Strengthening Gender Equality and Rural Women Empowerment.
The celebration involved exhibition of various works from women entrepreneurs’ and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT) participated through its entrepreneurship groups under Strong woman programs from all regions (Dodoma, Mbeya, Songwe and Mara) where the program is being implemented. Members brought their products to sell find new markets(new orders), also learn more from others like packaging, labels, business cards etc; also Legal service providers participated and provided legal education to people to increase gender awareness among the community.

During the celebrations, CCT was awarded a certificate in recognition to its outstanding commitment and contribution in promoting gender equality and women empowerment in Tanzania by the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (Community Development). As an Organization we have made a commitment to continue supporting the women through providing Legal services, political education and economic empowerment that campaign against Gender Based Violence to foster women economic empowerment.
